The Three‐Cornered Hat

О событии

At the Music Summer 2009 in Grafenegg, the Tonkünstler‐Orchester of Lower Austria will be joined by the brilliant and flexible violinist Julian Rachlin.

Julian Rachlin is famed far beyond the borders of his chosen home in Austria for his sensitive playing and breathtaking interpretations of the most beautiful works the violin repertoire has to offer. He will be bringing two instrument cases with him to Grafenegg, for in the last few years this exceptional performer has been increasingly occupied with music for the viola. In Grafenegg he will perform Béla Bartók’s concerto for viola and orchestra, and then immediately swap viola for violin to treat the audience to Franz Waxmann’s «Carmen Fantasia». The tone for this virtuoso evening will be set by Mendelssohn‐Bartholdy’s «Märchen von der schönen Melusine» («The Tale of the Fair Melusina»), and the orchestral grand finale a complete performance of the ballet music from de Falla’s «The Three‐Cornered Hat».

This magical programme will be a perfect opportunity to enjoy the stunning concert facilities at Grafenegg.
