In 'Armada', Montserrat Figueras and the ensemble Hesperion XXI under the direction of Jordi Savall perform English and Spanish music by composers as Byrd, Dowland, Vasquez and many others.

In 1588, when the Spanish Armada (navy) went under at the coast of England, madrigals of the Catholic south spread over Protestant Britain as a musical newness. Referring to this historical paradox, Jordi Savall has arranged English music from the Elisabethan Age and Spanish music from the age of Philipp II. in this special evening.
