Bach's viola da gamba suites are rarely given satisfactory performances. With the two Ghielmi brothers, however, there is no question of the intrusive showiness with which this music is so often afflicted. Our artist in residence Lorenzo Ghielmi, moreover, plays a Silbermann fortepiano, such as Bach himself knew. The results are enthralling.
