The last part of the mythology describes the breakdown of the old system and the transition from nature to culture, from the world of the gods to humankind, from mythology to reality.
In the closing piece all musical motives coalesce and culminate in Brünnhilde's immolation scene. It is probably the biggest tour de force for soloists, choir, and orchestra alike.
