Master Pianists: Marc‐André Hamelin plays Haydn, Chopin & Feinberg

О событии

Marvel at the virtuosity and individual interpretation of the Canadian pianist. Hamelin returns to the Concertgebouw with a typically‐varied program, including works by Samuil Feinberg.

Prevented from leaving the USSR for the majority of his creative life, Feinberg is less well‐known to Western audiences than he should be. Hamelin plays two early Sonatas by this composer described as 'the heir to Scriabin'. Haydn's C major sonata, with its fantasy‐esque first movement, and Schumann's Fantasie in C provide a fitting beginning and end to the concert, which also includes two of Chopin's most testing works — the Fourth Scherzo and the Polonaise‐fantaisie in A flat.
