Korea Meets Dresden: traditional musik from South Korea — Dresden Music Festival

О событии

Thefoundation of Korea is dated back to 2333 BC. The legendary 'Land of the Dawn' can look back on a very long tradition and has a correspondingly rich culture. The Folk Music Group of the National Gugak Center, Seoul, contributes sounds to the Semperoper on such extraordinary instruments as Gayageum, Piri, Haegeum, Ajaeng or Daegum. Pansori is also performed — a kind of one‐man opera in which the singer is accompanied by a drummer and who entered the intangible heritage of UNESCO a few years ago. The audience expects a very special meeting of Asian and European culture! The festival is very happy that Dresden's Lord Mayor and his wife, who is from South Korea, have taken on the patronage for this concert.
