Introduction to Schubert's 'Rosamunde' Quartet

О событии

Learn more about a work often overshadowed by the more famous 'Death and the Maiden' quartet. Celebrated Dutch author Bert Natter and the acclaimed Pavel Haas Quartet combine their expertise to introduce you to an overlooked masterpiece.

Known as the 'Rosamunde' Quartet due to the use, in the second movement, of a theme from Schubert's incidental music for the play of the same name, the piece makes reference also to several of Schubert's most successful songs, including Grentchen am Spinnrade. Written in the same period as 'Death and the Maiden', the 'Rosamunde' Quartet shows Schubert coming into his own as a composer of instrumental music.

N.B. The first half of this concert will consist of a lecture, in Dutch.
