Anne‐Sophie Mutter: Poulenc, Ravel, Saint‐Saëns at the Concertgebouw

О событии

Allow yourself to embrace the French way of life for an evening. Anne‐Sophie Mutter plays works for violin by the crème de la crème of French compositional talent of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Ravel's jazz‐influenced Sonata in G and Saint‐Saëns' virtuosic 'Introduction and Rondo Cappriccioso' are favorites of the solo violin repertoire. Less familiar, perhaps, is Poulenc's wartime Sonata, dedicated to the memory of Spanish poet Federico García Lorca. Completing the program, Mozart's Sonata in A, and 'Clockwork' by American composer Sebastian Currier, whose work Mutter has championed enthusiastically.
