That Amalie of Saxony had dedicated her life to the arts was not a matter of course as a woman in the 19th century. In addition to plays and libretti, the Saxon princess created twelve full‐length operas. On the occasion of her 150th anniversary of death scheduled for 2020, the Dresden Kapellsolisten under Helmut Branny perform her opera 'Elvira' thematically inspired by Mozart's 'Abduction from the Seraglio'.
