This is a grand building combining post‐modern style with traditional Chinese culture in harmony and prosperity. The National Centre for Performing Arts houses an opera house, concert hall, theatre and multi‐functional theatre.

The Opera House, with a total number of 2,398 seats including the venue for SRO, is primarily dedicated to the staging of operas, dance dramas,  ballet and large theatre festivals. It is equipped with a modern stage that can be moved or rotated in all directions, a ballet stage that can be slanting, and the movable orchestra pit that can hold 90‐musician orchestra.

The Concert Hall in the National Centre for the Performing Arts boasts a distinct air of exceeding serenity and refinedness and it features mainly large‐scale symphonies and national music performances supplemented by occasional staging of musicals. This hall embodies an ideal integration between architectural and acoustic aesthetics.

The Theatre in the NCPA is designed with a distinctive national architectural flavor where silk embroidered wallpaper gives rise to a contagious theatrical atmosphere marked by sincerity, warmth and hospitality. The Playhouse stages primarily traditional Chinese operas and modern dramas.

The Multi‐functional Theatre's fresh yet elegant style suits chamber music, small scale solo and vocal solo performances, drama and modern dance. Acoustically the MF Theatre is designed to diffuse sound in such a balanced and gentle way that audiences can enjoy a truly natural sound.
