Beethoven spoke about his Missa Solemnis as his most successful work. Despite being less known than other symphonies and concertos, this is without doubt one of the absolute masterpieces by the composer from Bonn. The last piano sonatas and the last quartets were written when the composer was already suffering from total deafness, and integrate the complex and visionary musical world of the late Beethoven.
