See the parallels with Valery Gergiev and the London Symphony Orchestra in the works of Brahms and Szymanowski. Between these two symphonies, delight in the agile bow of violinist Janine Jansen, as she performs Szymanowski's concerto for violin.

Brahms' Symphony No. 1, with its ample phrasing, is very personal while Szymanowski's First Symphony, with its post‐Romantic notions, can best be described as epic.
