'I am the music…' — Monteverdi at the Frari

The Venice Monteverdi Academy presents a series of concerts in memory of Monteverdi in Venice.

On August 19th 1613 Claudio Monteverdi was appointed as Maestro di Cappella at St. Mark's Church in Venice. 400 years later the Venice Monteverdi Academy celebrates his art and work with a series of concerts at the Basilica dei Frari, where Claudio Monteverdi was buried in 1643.

'I am the music …' — Monteverdi at the Frari, scheduled from May 31st to June 16th, 2013, offers a spiritual approach to the music of Monteverdi: respect, admiration and attempt to understand the deep meaning his music.

On June 8th, back to the Basilica dei Frari, 'Verum, Bonum, Pulchrum'. Soprano Patrizia Cigna and the Venice Monteverdi Academy, with Roberto Zarpellon at the harpsichord, perform music by Steffani, Vivaldi, A. Marcello, Handel.
