Eschenbach, Goerne & Orchestre de Paris: Hartmann & Tchaikovsky

Sobre o Evento

Be prepared for an evening of dramatic extremes in the Salle Pleyel with Christoph Eschenbach directing Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5,  and baritone Matthias Goerne performing Karl‐Amadeus Hartmann's apocalyptic Sodom and Gomorrah.

A celebrated composer during his lifetime, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 is a mirror of of the man himself in all his torment and glory.

Tchaikovsky is programmed here with a largely unknown Karl‐Amadeus Hartmann, whose Sodom and Gomorrah was written in 1963. It is an agitated and mournful vision of the end of the world, with a sprawling orchestra that overpowers the one embattled voice that sings out into the encroaching darkness.
