Helmut Hauskeller was born in Berlin and acquired his musical skills through self tuition. At the age of 14 he was so inspired by the playing of panpipes virtuosos Simion Stanciu and Gheorghe Zamfir, that he began to construct and play the panpipes, himself. Workshops and courses, which he sometimes led himself, drew him further into the world of this simple, yet perfect, instrument made of bamboo‐wood. Since 1989, numerous concerts with organ, but also with ensemble or orchestra, as well as CD‐productions and TV recordings have taken him throughout Germany, as well as England, Finland, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland and the U.S.A.
