Un Monde en Soi: Debussy Quartet
Over het evenement
Choreographer Abou Lagraa has created "Un Monde en soi" for seven dancers and the Debussy Quartet.
Imagine the abysmal void, from which a new world dawns, then inhabit it progressively with the vibration of the 16 strings of a quartet and the traversal of seven bodies – dancers’ bodies and celestial bodies – drawing in pure corporeal poetry the metamorphosis of a being in a constant state of becoming. Abou Lagraa, 2009 winner of the International Movimentos Dance Prize, captured the European stage with his fluid and nervous style of dance, a fusion between contemporary language, hip hop and multicultural influences.
In Un monde en soi, joined on stage by the Debussy Quartet performing music by John Cage and Anton Webern, he questions the universe, from its birth to its development, and the place of humanity in the latter, between animal existence and consciousness, between identity and ‘the other’.
