Enjoy a concert in the beautiful St. Michael's Church in the old quarter of Budapest.
The Church of St. Michael (Belvarosi Szent Mihály Templom) on Vaci Street was built in the mid‐1700’s and boasts one of the most spectacular main altars in Budapest. In addition to its stunning interior, St. Michael’s also provides excellent acoustics that enhance the rich sounds of a lone soloist or a full orchestra.

Das Konzert war eine typisch touristische Veranstaltung. Die Musiker haben schon einmal zu spät angefangen dann erkennbar ohne Herzblut gespielt. Die Stücke wurden einfach heruntergespielt um möglichst schnell fertig zu sein. Nach Abschluß des Konzerts sind die Musiker trotz erheblichen Beifalls einfach ohne den Versuch einer Zugabe gegangen. Das Konzert hat nicht einmal eine ganze Stunde gedauert und dafür war es im Verhältnis zu einer Aufführung in der Oper (4 Stunden Aufführung, Preis 16 € pro Person).

The concert was very good, but also relatively short (70 min.). Many people came into the church after the concert has started. This was disturbing, but probably a way to get as much as possible money (for the church).

It was a very good evening. The ensemble was excellent, but the guest soloist, Gyula, Gabora, playing Vivaldi's Winter and Gloria, was below par and his violin was out of tune. He tried several times to retune and pull out the loose strands of horse hair from his bow, but it didn't help much. But, still most enjoyable.
