전 세계에서 가장 사랑받고 가장 자주 공연되는 오페라인 주세페 베르디의 《라 트라비아타》가 제104회 아레나 페스티벌에서 다시 무대에 오릅니다. 변함없는 마법과 새로운 감동: 비올레타의 이야기가 새로운 연출로 돌아와 우리를 다시 한번 매료시킬 것입니다.
《라 트라비아타》(이탈리아어: 타락한 여인)는 알렉상드르 뒤마의 소설 『카멜리아를 든 여인』(1852)을 원작으로 한 베르디의 3막 오페라입니다. ‘유흥을 즐기는 여성’을 다룬 이 오페라는 주제와 배경 모두에서 1850년대에 새로운 시도였습니다. 작품에 묘사된 사건들은 베르디의 시대를 배경으로 하지만, 연출가들은 종종 이야기를 다른 시대로 옮겨 재구성하기도 합니다. 『라 트라비아타』는 전 세계에서 가장 자주 무대에 오르는 오페라 중 하나이다.
제1막
파리에서 가장 인기 있는 기녀 비올레타의 살롱에서 활기찬 파티가 열린다. 젊은이 알프레도 제르몽이 파티에 합류하고, 술잔을 들어 노래를 부르라는 권유를 받는다. 알프레도는 멀리서 비올레타를 짝사랑해 왔으며, 이 기회를 통해 그녀에 대한 자신의 감정을 고백한다. 비올레타는 자신의 직업 탓에 진정한 사랑은 자신에게 주어지지 않을 것이라고 믿지만, 알프레도의 순수한 마음과 진솔한 사랑에 혼란을 느낍니다.
제2막
비올레타와 알프레도는 사교계를 떠나 파리 외곽에서 평화롭게 살고 있습니다. 알프레도가 자리를 비운 사이, 비올레타는 뜻밖에도 알프레도의 아버지를 맞이하게 됩니다. 제르몽 노인은 비올레타의 평판이 딸의 결혼 계획을 위태롭게 한다며, 알프레도와 헤어지라고 압박합니다. 비올레타는 슬픔과 죄책감에 휩싸여 알프레도에게 진실을 말하지 않은 채 집을 떠난다. 아버지의 방문 사실을 알지 못한 알프레도는 비올레타의 불신실함에 격분한다.
비올레타는 예전의 후원자였던 남작과 함께 파리 사교계로 돌아온다. 알프레도는 그녀를 쫓아가 모인 손님들 앞에서 비올레타에게 비난과 모욕을 퍼붓는다.
제3막
몇 달 후, 비올레타는 중병에 걸려 죽음이 코앞에 다가온다. 아버지로부터 마침내 진실을 전해 들은 알프레도는 그녀의 병상 곁으로 달려간다. 알프레도는 비올레타에게 용서를 구한다. 두 사람은 함께할 행복한 미래를 꿈꾸지만, 비올레타는 알프레도와 함께했던 시간을 떠올리며 마지막 숨을 거둔다.

베로나 원형극장
베로나 원형극장은 현존하는 로마 원형극장 중 세 번째로 큰 규모를 자랑합니다. 서기 30년경에 건설된 이 극장은 동시대 원형극장 중 가장 잘 보존된 유적지 중 하나이기도 합니다. 길이 140미터, 너비 100미터에 달하는 거대한 규모와 3만 명 이상의 관중을 수용할 수 있는 좌석은 브라 광장 북부를 압도하는 위용을 보여줍니다. 탁월한 음향과 환상적인 입지 조건 덕분에 대규모 오페라 공연에 이상적인 장소입니다. 이 기념물은 르네상스 시대에 극장으로 재탄생했으며, 1913년 주세페 베르디의 '아이다' 공연으로 베로나 아레나에서의 오페라 전통이 시작되었습니다.

Musikalisch war alles bestens, auch die Arena ist wunderschön. Leider störten die vielen Handybenutzer sehr. Obwohl gebeten wird (Aufdruck auf Ticket, dreisprachige Ansage) halten sich viele Menschen nicht dran und stören andere. In Bregenz leuchten die Ordner mit Taschenlampen auf die Handynutzer.

Super Abend in der Arena. Das aufwendige Bühnenbild war ein Augenschmaus. Die Sänger haben Ihre Stimme voll zur Geltung gebracht. Leider haben wir auf den Stein sitzen mehr schlecht als gut gesessen. Beim nächsten Mal nehmen wir Karten für Stühle.
