Graham Cox studied piano, harpsichord, and organ at the University of Melbourne and continued his studies in Europe with organist Daniel Roth and Baroque specialist Ton Koopman. He initially worked as a conductor, choir director, and répétiteur at the Victoria State Opera. In 1986, he moved to Germany and worked at theaters in Osnabrück, Kiel, Kaiserslautern, Nuremberg, and Hanover, as well as at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. As an orchestral musician, he performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, and several Berlin orchestras. From 2014 to 2018, he served as cantor at the Bekenntniskirche Alt-Treptow and the Kirche zum Vaterhaus Baumschulenweg. As a freelance pianist, organist, choir director, and conductor, he most recently worked at the Staatstheater Hannover, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Flemish Opera in Belgium, and the Grand Théâtre de Genève in Switzerland.
