In the splendid architectural and acoustical space St. Maria dell’Orto, the itinerary is a unique opportunity to listen to the music of the ancient Roman liturgies, the same which were vibrating in  Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, thanks to the extraordinary performance of a highly specialized and internationally renowned for this repertoire: Schola Romana Ensemble.

In the heart of Trastevere, the ancient district that contains many other sites of interest: the Basilica S. Cecilia, the churches S. Francesco a Ripa, S. Maria in Trastevere, S. Giovanni Battista ai Genovesi, each with an authentic offer of art and history.

A rare and valuable program which highlights the precious artistic treasures offered by the site together with the music of the ancient liturgies. The archaic mysticism of Gregorian Chant, the most ancient form of Occidental music, alternates with the beauty of Roman polyphony that raised its vertex in Papal Rome. The composer of the musical programme are the Sistine Chapel Masters: Palestrina, Victoria, Carissimi, Pitoni, Agazzari, they contributed, like Michelangelo, Rafael, Bernini and the other composers of the time, to yield Rome the eternal city.
