Tchaikovsky Gala

イベント情報

Grzegorz Nowak conducts violinist Nemanja Radulovic and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in a celebration of the music of Tchaikovsky.

Even though Tchaikovsky’s musical output consisted of many romantic and memorable orchestral works, his equally well‐crafted orchestral opera scores are often less well‐remembered. The Polonaise from his opera "Eugene Onegin" is a fine example of his gift for this genre and is a perfect opener to this concert. His Violin Concerto was dismissed and regarded as unplayable and awkward; the Concerto’s dedicatee even refused to perform the work. Tchaikovsky thankfully stuck to his laurels and this Concerto has become a firm favourite for the concert platform. Though Tchaikovsky was experiencing great emotional pain while writing his 'Pathétique' Symphony, it arguably still remains his most dramatic and inspired work.

Enjoy this musical tribute to a great composer, at London's Cadogan Hall.
