Cello Festival: Opening Concert

At the opening concert of the Festival de Violoncelle de Beauvais, three concertos by Robert Schumann will be performed to celebrate the composer's 200th birthday.

The Festival de Violoncelle de Beauvais offers an opportunity to enjoy the deep sonorities of the cello in all of the instrument's many guises, from solo suites to Romantic concertos. This year's artistic director is Pieter Wispelwey, a young master cellist, whose expertise ranges from the baroque to contemporary music. Programming and composition for the festival was guided by the young French composer Bruno Montovani.
