Théâtre des Champs-Élysées: Aldo Ciccolini, piano

イベント情報

Aldo Ciccolini was born in Naples, where he completed his musical education (piano and orchestra conducting) under professors versed in the teachings of Ferruccio Busoni and Liszt. He made his debut at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples in 1941 at the age of 16 and went on to win the Marguerite Long‐Jacques Thibaud competition in Paris in 1949. Aldo Ciccolinis meteoric rise to fame in France liberated his passion for French music (the entire works of Satie, Ravel, Debussy). On the conductor’s podium, Furtwängler, Ansermet, Cluytens, Mitropoulos, Münch, Maazel, Kleiber, Prêtre, Ceccato, Gavezzeni, Martinon, Monteux, Plasson and many more. Without, of course, forgetting Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and his particular admiration for her. With more than 100 recordings for EMI‐Pathé Marconi and other record companies, including the complete sonata cycles of Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, and others, Aldo Ciccolini has made an important contribution to increasing our awareness of infrequently performed or unjustly neglected pieces. Accademico di Santa Cecilia, Officier de la Légion d’Honneur et dans l’ordre National du Mérite, Commandeur des Arts et Lettres and winner of numerous, prestigious awards, in 1971 Aldo Ciccolini chose to become a French citizen. He was a former Professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris and holds masterclasses throughout the world. On 9 December 1999 he celebrated a career in France spanning 50 years with a recital at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. In 2002 he has been awarded the Diapason d’or for his CD of the entire solo piano works of Janacek Schumann, and in 2003 for Chopin.
