Bach's music is so splendid and richly orchestrated that the Passion of Jesus almost feels like an opera. Although today the St. John Passion is shaded by Bach's much more famous St. Matthew Passion, this does not detract from its rousing beauty and moving sound language.

Edward Higginbottom is one of the great revelations of this Season. The master is one of the experts and pioneers in the United Kingdom in the study and interpretation with historicist criteria of Renaissance and Baroque choral music. His performances have a high sense of drama, great dynamism and emotion. We want him to show us his musical wisdom with the naturalness that characterizes him.
