Sixth Symphony by Mahler at L'auditori de Barcelona

イベント情報

It is a broad‐sweeping, intense, dramatic work, driven by an unavoidable sense of fate, but also drawing on the happiness of Mahler's family life at that time, with themes dedicated to his wife Alma and their daughters. Alma said that the sixth was “the most personal of his works”. Mahler used it to effectively turn his interior world into music, revealing all to make us part of his vision of love, success, failure, joy and death. He worked on it for two years and finally, exhausted, wrote to a friend: “The sixth is finished. Me too”. Pinchas Steinberg, one of today’s most prestigious conductors, returns to the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra to conduct Mahler, following on from the success of the fifth symphony in January 2016.
