Discover Australian modernism, virtuoso percussion music, and Prokofiev’s most important symphony.
Australian musician Brett Dean was a violist with the Berliner Philharmoniker for many years before establishing himself as a composer. The program with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will include both his Angels’ Wings and the impulsive Percussion Concerto by Scottish composer James MacMillan. The concert will conclude with Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony, in which we can hear the influences of Beethoven and Tchaikovsky.
