“To the Memory of an Angel”: Berg’s Violin Concerto with Janine Jansen meets Beethoven’s “Eroica.”
The life and death of Alma Mahler’s daughter Manon Gropius inspired Alban Berg to write a moving violin concerto. It will be followed on the program by Berlioz’s love duet music (including a dramatic “storm”) from Les Troyens and Beethoven’s heroic Symphony No. 3 (“Eroica”).
