The Pokajanen Kanon — 'Canons of Penance' — is one of the most ambitious works of Arvo Pärt. Singing of a new spirituality (which must not be reduced to the only New simplicity, so much the writing of Pärt can be complex), the Estonian composer has become a quasi‐legend, creator of the technique of Tintinabulism, whose hypnotic shimmer fascinates the whole world. The choir of the Collegium Vocale Gent led by the Latvian conductor Kaspars Putniņš will magnify these unreal textures while restoring the intensity and the height of inspiration of this work.
