Maria del Mar Serrano Rebollo, “Maria Serrano”, was born in Seville, Spain. She began to dance as a child. She was taught by Seville’s outstanding flamenco teachers – José Galván, Los Gitanillos de Bronce, Juan Manuel, Farruco – who immediately recognised her exceptional talent. In 1993 André Heller, the popular Austrian director, invited her to his show, Magneten. Maria won the hearts of Germany, Austria and Switzerland with her appearance. The News of Austria dubbed her “the voodoo queen of flamenco”.
Since its establishment the Compańia Maria Serrano has made numerous highly successful appearances in cities of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Turkey, Finland, Denmark, Holland, Taiwan, Macedonia, Poland, Mexico and Italy.
