The Saint Luigi dei Francesi Church, with façade by Giacomo della Porta and Domenico Fontana, was built between 1518 and 1589. It houses many works of art such as the Assumption of the Virgin by Francesco Bassano (1589), Caravaggio's three paintings on the life of Saint Matthew (1600) or the frescoes of Domenichino in the life of St. Cecilia (1616). St. Louis is the national church of France in Rome.
