Music for Changing Times at L'auditori de Barcelona

Lo spettacolo

Czech composer Karel Husa was working in the United States at the time of the Prague Spring, and had to listen to the unfolding events on the radio. The energy and optimism of that social movement and the repression that followed inspired Husa to compose a momentous and powerful work. Similarly, Bert Appermont was deeply affected by the Brussels terrorist attacks in March 2016, he was inspired to write a work to voice certain public emotions that these acts of terror have caused, particularly fear, grief and anger and he channels them into a piece of music full of hope. Daniel Ligorio performs British composer Addinsell’s most popular work, the poignant Warsaw Concerto, written as the main theme for the film Dangerous Moonlight, which tells the story of a Polish fighter pilot during the Nazi invasion of Poland.
