Verdi Anniversary Concert: St. Stephen's Cathedral

Celebrate Giuseppe Verdi's 200th anniversary at the Stephansdom (St. Stephen's Cathedral) in the heart of Vienna. Under the baton of Gerald Wirth, the musical director of the Vienna Boys' Choir, the Sing mit! Festival Choir and the Wiener Domorchester will perform the composer's monumental Messa da Requiem.

The Requiem was not originally written for liturgical use, but purely for concert performance. This composition is a summary of Verdi's achievement in his operas and goes even farther beyond that. As a master of his craft, Verdi expresses humility before death and the hope for salvation with a magnificent style.
