Atos Trio: Schubert & Beethoven

Surrender to the power of Beethoven's 'Archduke' piano trio, and Schubert's late Second trio, as the acclaimed, Berlin‐based, Atos Trio bring their celebrated 'ensemble of three distinct voices' to the Concertgebouw once again.

Both works were created at end‐points in the lives of their composers. Schubert's work is among his last, and was published only very shortly before his death. For Beethoven, the 'Archduke' trio marked the end of his performing career, as his increasing deafness had a profound effect on his playing. Following the work's premiere and one subsequent performance, the great composer never again played in public.
