Adès, Elgar & Wagner: Tonkünstler‐Orchestra

Lo spettacolo

Alongside a contemporary English opening with Thomas Adès the American conductor Hugh Wolff stages two romantic greats: Elgar and Wagner.

The dances from Thomas Adès’ opera 'Powder Her Face' are followed by Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto, the last great work penned by the English romantic maestro. The concert concludes with Hugh Wolff’s own compilation of orchestral passages from Wagner’s 'Götterdämmerung', in which the divergent plot strands of the Ring Cycle are brought together into a monumental finale.
