A co‐founder of the legendary Beaux Arts Trio, Pressler ranks among the elder statesmen of chamber music, and his influence can clearly be seen in the open, exploratory attitudes of the Schumann Quartet, for whom he has been mentor and partner. In addition to the Franck Quintet, widely regarded as one of the composer's greatest achievements, the Schumanns play Tchaikovsky's Third String Quartet — his last, written in memory of the Czech violinist, Ferdinand Laub.
