Celebrate the enduring magic of Haydn's music, and its influence on successive generations of composers with celebrated trumpeter, Tine Thing Helseth, conductor Klaus Mäkelä, and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic.

From Brahms to Prokofiev and Britta Byström, Haydn's legacy is inescapable. Helseth plays Haydn's trailblazing Trumpet Concerto, while Mäkelä leads the orchestra in an exploration of works inspired by Haydn — Prokofiev's First Symphony, Brahms' 'Haydn Variations', and Byström's 'Farewell Variations', commissioned by the New Stockholm Chamber Orchestra in 2005 to combine with Haydn's 'Farewell Symphony'.
