Strauss' Elektra: Opéra National de Lyon

Sobre el espectáculo

Discover Strauss' opera 'Elektra' in a re‐staging of Ruth Berghaus' mythical and intense production, with Elena Pankratova in the title role, under the musical direction of Hartmut Haenchen.

In 1986 in Dresden, Ruth Berghaus, a major figure of East German theater, created a new production of 'Elektra' that deeply shook the theater world. Since the pit was too small to hold the 120 musicians, she positioned them on stage, as part of the drama. The characters were perched on a huge diving board, as if to the edge of the abyss, illustrating the extreme tension of the story of Elektra falling into madness and despair.

In German, with French surtitles

Presented during the Festival Mémoires 2017, which offers the chance to rediscover legendary past productions.
