The Night of the Qanun presents Egyptian virtuoso Bassam Abdelsattar and five of his students from Naseer Shamma’s House of Oud in Abu Dhabi. The master and his young fellow musicians, aged 12 to 17, will perform music from the Eastern and Western worlds as well as old and familiar pieces, including a solo composition for each of them. They will present new techniques that create new sounds, playing their instruments with ten fingers, similar to a piano—inviting the audience to discover the connections between the two instruments.
