Paying homage to the work that inspires their name, the Wanderer Trio brings the individual strengths of its members to the fore in works that explore a particular type of perfection. The final movement of Schubert’s Trio Op.100 has inspired countless musicians, while Ravel’s work, with its hugely varied inspirations, is a challenge for any trio — a very different, but no less immaculate, work that in some respects foreshadows the events of the year in which it was written, 1914.
