Vivaldi's Orlando Furioso: Théâtre des Champs‐Elysées

Jean‐Christophe Spinosi conducts Ensemble Matheus in a concert version of Vivaldi's major work, 'Orlando Furioso', with Carlo Vistoli in the title role on the stage of the Théâtre des Champs‐Elysées.

Antonio Vivaldi, who composed 94 operas, was twice inspired by 'Orlando Furioso', an epic poem written by Ludovico Ariosto in the 16th century. Conductor Jean‐Christophe Spinosi selected the second of his operatic versions, composed in 1727, a work that is a brilliantly demonstrates Vivaldi's musical maturity and virtuosity.
