Start the New Year in style at the famed Volksoper in Vienna with a performance of Donizetti’s dazzling comedy opera Viva La Mamma featuring star tenor Rolando Villazon making his directorial debut.

By turns farcical and ironical and never less than hilarious, Donizetti’s opera tells the story of an opera premiere in a provincial theatre. The resolute mother of the seconda donna bursts into the company’s usual state of chaos and ends up treading the boards of the stage herself.
