Valery Gergiev, Pierre‐Laurent Aimard & Munich Philharmonic Orchestra at Carnegie Hall

About the Event

Witness the musical intersection of eras as one supercedes the next, or looks back wistfully to a bygone age. Valeriy Gergiev presides over a program that encapsulates these moments in time, through the music of Beethoven and Ravel.

Celebrated pianist Pierre‐Laurent Aimard plays his compatriot Ravel's extrovert, forward‐looking Piano Concerto in G — a sharp contrast with the subtly nostalgic melancholy of the composer's La Valse. Beethoven looked to a new age of brotherhood and heroism as he wrote the Eroica Symphony — and in doing so, laid the foundation of a new musical movement.
