Two Faces of the Twentieth Century: Brahms and Mendelssohn

About the Event

1833. In the same year in which Felix Mendelssohn performed his famous Italian Symphony No. 4 for the first time in London, a reassuring masterpiece of symphonic Romanticism, Johannes Brahms was born in Hamburg, a genius who would draw his musical parable from that Romanticism until the beginning of the twentieth century. In a single stroke, Claus Peter Flor unites in a dialogue two times, two faces and two distinct sensibilities of the nineteenth century German to enhance the uniqueness and unexpected similarities.
