The Snow Maiden: Paris Opera

About the Event

Rimski‐Korsakov's fairy‐tale opera comes to the Paris Opera in a new production by critically acclaimed Russian director Dmitri Tcherniakov. Mikhail Tatarnikov conducts, with the young soprano sensation Aida Garifullina in the title role.

Snegurochka, the Snow Maiden, is the daughter of Spring Beauty and Grandfather Frost, but her safety is threatened by the God of the Sun and the temptations of love. Rimsky‑Korsakov himself felt that this interpretation of a popular Slavic folk legend was among his greatest compositions.

Sung in Russian, with French and English surtitles.
