Eric Whitacre leads the Great Broadcasting Choir

In recent years, the American Eric Whitacre has grown into the world's most beloved choir leader. And that while he actually wanted to become a rock star. With a slight reluctance, he was persuaded during his studies to sing in a choir. The most drastic change in my existence', he told the NRC. For Grammy winner Whitacre, choral music is part of something bigger than you are. As a singer and a listener! Whitacre YouTube conquered you with his virtual choirs. Now he is back at the Groot Omroepkoor, for which he composed new work in 2017.

American choral works

Whitacre leads a variety of American choral works: from silent to humorous. Central to the venue is the legendary Leonard Bernstein, whose centenary is celebrated this season. The Groot Omroepkoor starts with the festive Warm‐up for voices and hands. Also special is Bernstein's partly Hebrew sung Chichester Psalms. Countertenor David Allsopp solemnly. You'll hear Coplands Old American Songs and the 'traditional' Shenandoah. Van Whitacre's sounds include his beloved Lux aurumque.
