The Marriage of Figaro at Château de Haroué: Opéra en plein air

About the Event

Experience opera under the stars, when the Opéra en Plein Air Festival presents Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. This year's production is staged by the renowned French actress Julie Gayet, under the musical direction of Yannis Pouspourikas.

Based on a stage comedy by Pierre Beaumarchais and with a libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte, The Marriage of Figaro is one of the most popular operas of the lyrical repertoire. The action takes place in the castle of Almaviva, near Sevilla, where the servants Suzanne and Figaro are preparing their marriage, despite the efforts of their employer the Count Almaviva to seduce Susanna. A masterpiece of the opera buffa genre, full of plot twists, deceptions and funny misunderstandings, in which the two lovers teach their master a lesson in fidelity.
