A showdown between the Norwegian National Ballet and the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra featuring some of the best music ever written for dance: Igor Stravinsky's The Firebird and The Rite of Spring. Add two strong choreographers with their own signature style, and you have a unique evening of dance. Enjoy the world premiere of Ina Christel Johannessen's The Rite of Spring and a revival of Liam Scarlett's successful The Firebird.

“Briton Liam Scarlett gives The Firebird a Game of Thrones makeover, constructing a nightmarish fantasy with designer Jon Bausor,” wrote the Financial Times after the premiere in 2013. Ballet Director Ingrid Lorentzen challenged choreographers to create new interpretations of Michel Fokine's iconic ballets. Liam Scarlett responded by transporting the ballet to the fantasy genre with his lavish, dark Firebird. Scarlett tackles the narrative in a classical language that demands technical perfection.
