About the Event

A carnival joke for insiders: Nothing more and nothing less did the grand master of French elegance have in mind when he performed his Carnival of the Animals during a private concert in 1886. Prudently, Camille Saint‐Saëns only allowed the piece to be performed publicly after his death, as he had used the music to mock a number of his well‐known contemporaries.
