The French late romantic Gabriel Fauré ignored the strict Requiem tradition, omitted texts and added new ones. His music should not frighten people, but comfort them. This is where Teodor Currentzis comes in and takes the metaphysical dimension of this music seriously. He is having the Requiem staged — in collaboration with the British artist and performer Mat Collishaw.
