String Quartet of the Staatskapelle Berlin & Christiane Karg: Beethoven, Schubert, Schönberg

About the Event

In a concert that spans centuries, soprano Christiane Karg interprets Schubert's 'Mignon' Lieder as transcribed by Aribert Reimann. The moving songs, based on text by Goethe, are accompanied by string quartet in Reimann's version, performed this evening with the String Quartet of the Staatskapelle Berlin.

The final movements of Schönberg's emotional Second String Quartet also include soprano voice. Musicians of the Boulez Ensemble join the stage for the closing work of the evening, Beethoven's Septet in E‐flat major.
